Healthy Eyes and Healthy Lifestyles Go Hand-In-Hand
Imagine your life without being able to see. You’ll quickly realize eye exams are as important as any other medical exam.
Many eye diseases are “silent killers.” They are not painful, nor do they cause an immediately noticeable reduction in vision. Instead they cause ongoing damage before awareness, and in many cases, there’s no way to repair the damage or restore your previous best vision. Early disease detection can save your vision and prolong the life you want to live. That’s why the early diagnosis and prevention of eye disease are our top priorities. Our goal is to preserve your best eye health for a lifetime, allowing you to enjoy all of life’s experiences with best eyesight.
Children's Vision, Eye Health and Eye Exams
80% of learning occurs through your child's eyes. That’s why Dr. Golson advices a screening in the first year of life.
Because we feel so strongly about this, Dr. Golson participates in a program called InfantSee and performs a complimentary eye exam to infants 6 to 12 months old. This allows him to detect potential issues that can lead to what’s commonly referred to as lazy eye. If left untreated, lazy eye can lead to permanent loss of vision. Since children of any age have limited life experience, they may not know or be able to articulate that they don’t see well. It’s common for a parent to think everything is OK if a child passes an eye screening. Since a screening is not a detailed examination, it's so important to have your child examined by an eye specialist. For this reason, it’s so important to have your child examined by an eye specialist. Parents can help by keeping a watchful eye on their children’s vision patterns. In addition, children having difficulty in school or suffering from headaches, focusing problems, visual strain or squinting should have their eyes evaluated.
Dr. Golson advises eye exams for children starting at pre-school and continuing annually after the age of six. Ensuring your child’s eyes are healthy with good vision correction will give your child the opportunity to reach maximum potential.
At Envision Eyecare, we test for color vision, depth perception, near and far focus, proper eye alignment and eye muscle function to ensure that vision and the eye are fully functional and corrected appropriately.
