Originally from Tampa Bay, Florida, Dr. Jennifer Scurlock, known affectionately by patients and team members as Dr. Jai, has called several places home. Most recently, she lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where her wife’s family resides. Now, she’s proud to bring her expertise and passion for eye care to the Asheville community.

Dr. Jai earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2014. Her path to optometry was personal. Having experienced vision and eye health challenges herself, she knows firsthand how life-changing the right care can be. Giving her patients the same level of support and clarity that once made a difference in her own life is what drives her every day.

Whether she’s helping someone see more clearly or manage their long-term eye health, Dr. Jai brings compassion, precision, and a deep commitment to making people feel seen in every sense of the word.

Outside the exam room, Dr. Jai is a certified CrossFit instructor and loves staying active. You can often find her coaching classes or spending time outdoors with her two pups. She also enjoys exploring Asheville’s vibrant local scene and embracing all the natural beauty the area has to offer.

Dr. Jai’s greatest supporter is her wife, who she proudly calls her number one fan. With unwavering encouragement and love, her wife stands behind everything she pursues, both personally and professionally.
