Thank You to Our Community of Patients!

Don’t let the sun go down without saying thank you to someone, and without admitting to yourself that absolutely no one gets this far alone.” — Stephen King

A letter of thanks and remembering from our Office Manager.

Present Day.

As the Integrator for successful guidance, team collaboration and positive patient results over the last 6 years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead this organization and team through many changes, challenges, celebrations and creative advancement. Every aspect of how we engage with each other, our patients and our physical office space has adapted to life during a pandemic and it was A LOT to work through. It still is!

As we persevere we are feeling refreshed that spring is upon us again and that we are one year away from that traumatic time of closing our doors with uncertainty of what was to come. With all the changes from 2020, one thing holds true: this team desires to continue enhancing the eyecare and eyewear experience, for you. To support you to see and perform your best in this age of digital connection, helping to build comfort and ease in your world. As a local business, your support, referrals and return to us for your eyecare means the world to us.

Without YOU, we wouldn’t have survived the last year.

Seven weeks.

That was the duration of time we closed our doors to our patients and community when the pandemic hit last March. It changed our way of practicing eye care indefinitely, our systems shifted drastically as the shut-downs impacted every one of us. It was unknown and straight-up scary.

We asked ourselves ad nauseam, “How do we do this? Who do we call for more information? What happens if…? What does that symptom mean? Is it COVID? What processes are in place to ensure our team and patients stay healthy and safe?” Every day was an adventure as we remained steadfast and loyal to “get it right” as best we could.

Thank you.

I wanted to share this perspective with you to tell you that we are proud and honored to be here. We are inspired by other local businesses that survived the last year. We may be small, but we are Asheville! Strong and mighty!

We stay encouraged to continue to grow and develop this team, this practice and our care for our community. For you.

Thank you sincerely and endlessly for supporting Envision Eyecare, for trusting us in our care and for understanding that we want to get it right, even through all the changes and challenges of years past. Your patience is paramount as we carry on!

Together, we do.

Stay strong and well!

In deep gratitude,

Christine Maiello

Office Manager

Procedures We Are Following To Keep YOU Safe!

We are open for routine care! We have remained diligent in our safety procedures during the pandemic. Here are the top 7 safety measures we practice every day to keep you safe!

1. Masks, of course! We’re all wearing masks, and you are too!

2. Hand Sanitizer and Hand Washing: All team members are consistently sanitizing and washing hands, and we ask that you do the same when entering the office.

3. We’re crazy about sanitizing! All surfaces are sanitized after each patient and throughout the day.

4. Social distance please: We ask all patients to respect a 6ft social distance with other patients, at all times in the office. Orange markers are placed around the office to indicate 6ft between each person.

5. COVID-10 Health Screening Process: Before a patient enters the office, team members are asking a COVID-19 screening question during our check-in process. As patients enter, their temperature is taken to ensure everyone’s safety.

6. By Appointment Only: Only patients with appointments are allowed in the building to help maintain our safety measures.

7. Disinfecting Frames: We sanitize all frames that are tried on during a patient’s visit with our Optical Experts to purchase new glasses.

***

Your safety and wellness is our top priority, and hope all of our patients are staying happy, and healthy! Thank you for your continued support of our locally owned and operated business! Any service or purchase makes a difference in our community!

!URGENT! Recall on solar eclipse glasses!

URGENT RECALL OF SOLAR GLASSES!

We are sorry to inform you that due to new information provided by Amazon the eclipse viewing glasses we purchased may not be certified for viewing the eclipse. We were told these glasses were certified but over the weekend we were informed the certification may not be legitimate. We ask that you do not use these eclipse glasses, we can not guarantee that they will properly protect your eyes. We will gladly refund anyone who purchased these glasses through us. Below is the information provided by amazon:

“To protect your eyes when viewing the sun or an eclipse, NASA and the American Astronomical Society (AAS) advise you to use solar eclipse glasses or other solar filters from recommended manufacturers.  Viewing the sun or an eclipse using any other glasses or filters could result in loss of vision or permanent blindness.

Amazon has not received confirmation from the supplier of your order that they sourced the item from a recommended manufacturer.  We recommend that you DO NOT use this product to view the sun or the eclipse.”

Our office is so sorry for this inconvenience. Located below is a list given to us from the American Astronomical Society as recommendations on where to get your approved eclipse glasses. Please enjoy the eclipse safely!

Envision Eyecare Medical Assistant Receives Certification

We are happy to share that our very own Vickie Carpenter, Medical Assistant at Envision Eyecare, was recently certified as a Certified Paraoptometric (CPO).

A CPO(TM) is a person who has attained national recognition via certification by demonstrating an understanding of the concepts used in optometric care. Vickie studied hard for several months and passed the examination with flying colors on Friday, November 20th. We congratulate Vickie on her accomplishment, and we hope you will too on your next visit here!

Vickie had to answer questions related to basic science, clinical principles and procedures, ophthalmic optics and dispensing, and professional issues. Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the knowledge she has proven that she has after receiving this certification:

CPO Examination Content

Basic Science Anatomy, common eye disorders, terminology, surgery, and basic pharmacology

Clinical Principles and Procedures —Eye examination, refractive status, and contact lenses

Ophthalmic Optics and Dispensing—Ophthalmic prescriptions, ophthalmic lenses, and ophthalmic dispensing

Professional Issues — Eyecare specialists and ancillary personnel and practice management

We are very excited for Vickie and we are certainly proud to have her as part of our Envision Eyecare team!

The graphics and information are courtesy of the American Optometric Association. Learn more about the certification here.

CONGRATULATIONS Dr. Melanie Denton

ostella bistroAs with all things in life, great things come to transition; not necessarily an end. On that note join us in saying…

CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Denton!

It is with great pride we announce Dr. Melanie Denton will be leaving Envision Eyecare. Dr. Denton’s excellent care over the past three years at our office has touched many in our community and helped to make a difference in providing you with excellent patient care.

Please join us as we wish her the best as she begins the next phase of her journey at her new practice outside of Charlotte, NC. She will be missed.

Dr. Denton’s departure will be followed by the arrival of Dr. Sarah Arnette, OD, who comes to us from Virginia with five years’ experience. Dr. Arnette’s arrival ensures the continuity of Envision Eyecare’s commitment to community, connection and care.
