Envision Eyecare plans to take part in World Sight Day Challenge!!

As a dynamic member of the eye care community, Envision Eyecare understands the necessity of quality vision care services. This is why we are taking part in Optometry Giving Sight's World Sight Day Challenge.

The World Sight Day Challenge is a major fundraising campaign coordinated by Optometry Giving Sight to raise funds for projects that provide vision care, local training and infrastructure support for people who are blind or vision impaired due to uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and a pair of glasses.

On October 14th, 2010, Envision Eyecare is joining other Eye Care practices around the world. In traveling on 3 separate service trips to Costa Rica and Bolivia, I have seen first hand how basic eye care is simply unavailable in developiong countries. I will never forget the look on Pablo’s face, a 4 year old severely nearsighted boy, when he put on glasses and saw his mother’s face for the first time. It seemed like time stopped as his expression changed from bewilderment to comprehension and delight. Quite an emotional moment for everyone witnessing the transformation as mom and child cried tears of joy for their newfound, deeper connection. It was then that I fully understood the importance and scope of this work.

On October 14th, we will be donating ALL exam proceeds to this philanthropic organization and worthy cause. In addition, if any of you would like to make a donation between now and then, feel free to send us a check made out to “Optometry Giving Sight.”

Sincerely,

Larry Golson, OD
